EASTERN SLAVONIA

Excursion plan:

Pick up at your accommodation in the morning and departure to the ride to Vukovar. Arrival after 3,5 hours. Tour through the brave city on Danube river which was heavy destroyed during the siege in 1991, through street fighting and heavy bombardment by the Yugoslaw People's Army. Visit of the Water Tower- a symbol of the Croatian resistance which is heavily damaged but is still standing as a reminder of the war in Croatia. Visit of the Vukovar centre and Hospital Museum. Visit to the Vučedol Museum in which we can see rests of a culture which lived between 3000 BC and 2200 BC, and whose centre was Vučedol with approximately 3000 inhabitants. Return to the city centre, free time for rest and lunch. Afterwards departure to the ride to Osijek and arrival after half an hour. Tour through the city centre. Visit of Ante Starčević Square where also the Osijek Cathedral is located. Visit of the Osijek Old Town- a fortress which is called "Tvrđa", and which was one of the biggest and most modern forts in central Europe after it was built in 1722, designated to defend the land from the Ottoman army. Departure to the ride to Đakovo and arrival after half an hour. Tour through the town which is the ecclesiastical center of whole Slavonia. Walk through the street of St. John Paul 2. and visit of the great Đakovo Cathedral. Free time for rest and dinner. Departure to the ride to Zagreb. Arrival after 3 hours.
