ZAGREB CLASSIC TOUR

Tour plan:

Zagreb Classic tour starts on the Ban Josip Jelačić (main) Square in Zagreb, beside of the great statue of Ban (Duke) Josip Jelačić. We continue our tour with the visit of the Square of Europe which is opened in honor of croatian entry of the European Union. Afterwards we walk up to the great Zagreb Cathedral which was first opened in the year 1217., and was destroyed and rebuilt several times in her history. The last restoration took place between the years 1880-1902., after the great earthquake in year 1880. which destroyed the towers and the roof. Afterwards we continue our walk beside the marketplace Dolac to the Tkalčićeva street. We pass through the short street Krvavi Most (Bloody Bridge) and than we walk along the Radićeva street to the Stone Gates (one of the entry gates of Zagreb Old Town in the medieval time). After passing the Stone Gates we arrive on the St. Mark Square where both the croatian parliament and the seat of the croatian government are located. Afterwards we walk down to the Lotrščak Tower and the Zagreb Funicular (which is the shortest funicular in the world with only 66 meters of lenght). Beside the Funicular we will see a esplanade called "Strossmayerovo Šetalište". We take a ride with the funicular and arrive on the Ilica street, which is the longest street in Zagreb and also the most popular shopping street. We continue our walk to the begining point on Ban Jelačić Square.
